As some might know Roger Kupelian from Fugitive Studios who helped create the special effects in the Lord of the Rings movies is working on a private project making a movie based on Armenian historic war of survival the “Battle of Avarayr” 451 AD led by the legendary Armenian general Vartan Mamikonian. As the project requires funding it won’t be out for quit a while I guess. However they recently announced that Rockin’ the Wall Studios under the direction of Peabody Award winning documentarian and writer Marc Leif will soon release a Documentary Feature of this legendary battle. Note that the official movie is yet to be produced so this does not replace the movie, however Roger Kupelian will be working with Rockin’ the Wall Studios providing them with special effects. This is what they have to say about the upcoming documentary:
“An epic, multi-part documentary history, bringing you a true story of pagans, Romans, and Persians where ancient armies and ideas clashed in a sea of blood.
At the edge of Rome, at the gates of Persia, exiles and renegades carved out a New World. Caught between the greatest superpowers the world has ever known, an embattled Armenia embraces a new faith and forges a new identity. A world you never knew existed brought to you in a way you’ve never seen before. With breathtaking imagery from artist/wizard, Roger Kupelian, who helped create the world of the Oscar-winning “Lord of the Rings” trilogy.”
