Hi Guys,
The development of the long awaited project “East of Byzantium” about one of the most important events in Armenian history and the history of Christianity as a whole is underway and shooting in Armenia just finished. The project is moving along, however there are still challenges to overcome and funding is needed for visual enhancement. Producer Roger Kupelian has started a crowd-funding campaign to secure some funds for the project. Help out anyway you can, spread the word or donate! All help is highly appreciated!

This looks awesome!
Hi I wonder if you can help me please. I have recently returned from Esfahan in Iran and spent some time at the Vank church and museum. A verse from Proverbs was written on a hair and I wonder what special significance this proverb has in relation to Armenia. ” To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding.” I can find several references to Armenia and this verse but not the history behind it. Any information will be welcome. Thank you.
Ah yes certainly. These are very important words in Armenian history. These are the first words written in the Armenian alphabet when it was recovered through (as the legend goes) divine intervention by the Armenian monk Mesrob Mashtots in AD 405.
The following phrase translated from Solomon’s Book of Proverbs is said to be the first sentence to be written down in Armenian by Mashtots:
Ճանաչել զիմաստութիւն եւ զխրատ, իմանալ զբանս հանճարոյ:
Čanačʿel zimastutʿiun yev zxrat, imanal zbans hančaroy.
To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding.

While its a great idea of creating a movie about our past but to be honest this movie looks completely unauthentic and it lacks of quality, it looks like a clone of 300 the movie about 300 Spartans…
We should wait and create an authentic movie like Troy and avoid using low quality CGI as much as possible.
Well if we keep waiting nothing will be made ever. There no funding, with good funding we can make a great movie, but because of the lack of it most is done by people themselves. Roger Kupelian worked on the Lord of the Rings movies, they can make great CGI but you need funding for everything. Unfortunately it seems Armenians don’t care that much about our history. At least with this project we might inspire others and awaken the passion. Besides this is not a feature movie yet, this is going to be a documentary mini series (that is also… Read more »
